Peter Skinner MEP is backing Fairtrade Fortnight by pledging to buy a fairtrade coffee every day at the European Parliament.

27th February – 11th March is Fairtrade Fortnight and Euro MP Peter Skinner is backing ‘Take a Step’ for Fairtrade – this year’s campaign call to people in the UK to engage with Fairtrade.

The Fairtrade Foundation is challenging the public to take a step in the right direction by thinking about what they can do every day, every week or every month throughout 2012 to make a difference to the lives of farmers in the developing world. Despite this the EU has come under pressure to label the fuel in the same category as conventional oil.

Officials from EU Member States voted on a proposal which would label different fuels with their carbon footprint. David Cameron’s representative abstained. Read the rest of this article »
