Millions left malnourished by bankers betting on food prices

 

Big investment banks are betting on the price of staple foods like wheat, maize and soya. This is causing food prices to rise and making people go hungry.

 

After a meeting with members of the Horsham group of the World Development Movement Sussex Euro MP Peter Skinner is supporting their campaign for tighter European regulation of food markets.

To mark this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day, Euro MP Peter Skinner attended a special ceremony in the European Parliament and pledged to ‘speak up and speak out’ against hatred.

 

27th January is Holocaust Memorial Day, which marks an opportunity to remember and learn from the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

 

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is asking people to come together and challenge the language of hatred which still exists in society.

Peter Skinner

Peter Skinner’s support for the Equal Love campaign has won the backing of Brighton & Hove LGBT rights activist Chris Cooke.

 

The campaign seeks to end the twin legal bans on same-sex civil marriages and opposite-sex civil partnerships.

 

The Sussex Euro MP signed a pledge to back the campaign along with all other Labour members of the European Parliament.

People like James Bacon, 22, are bearing the brunt of the Tory-led Government’s savage cuts.

 

Hastings resident James left Kings College London in July but has been unable to find work:

 

“It’s a real struggle. I’m applying all the time but there are so many applicants for very few positions. All my friends seem to be in the same situation and I can’t even find an unpaid internship. It seems like the Government are completely out of touch with how tough things are at the moment.”
